Time to try some film??

Harking back to my blog comments in June I had the urge to try some film again and I had a B&W film scanned from my Leica Minilux. I have to say that I was pretty amazed by the moodiness of the results...and gritty contrast
click on them for a larger photo - what do you think ?

The top 2 pics are Fuji Neopan 400CN on my minilux

This is a B&W from my Casio - not quite the same view , but it's dead on its feet by comparison....gloom Posted by Picasa

minilux - iso 400 film. These indoor shots have strong contrast too...and my digital goes very noisy at iso 400
...again click on the photos to see a bigger version
Posted by Picasa I like this one....looks like it could have been taken in the 1950's (not that Dee isn't looking trendy...)

...so I think I'll be putting a film through now and again, though I'll probably stick with Black and White. I did find it strange not being able to view the photo immediately but I enjoyed the delayed gratification.

Not my photo, though I'd love to claim it or to have been there. Always great to see the first snow of the winter in the Lakes.

Got £3000 to spare..??

...and the lens is extra !!

Leica have finally made the step to produce the M8 digital rangefinder. It looks virtually like the M7 but has the LCD etc on the back and a 10mp sensor. I'd love to have a go with it if anyone fancies buying one....but I suppose that means I'll just have to look at the pictures on the web. Of course it can't be worth it, when you can get a digital SLR with a 10mp sensor including a lens for about £1000...??? but just check the photos at the link below...and look at the detail, saturation, tonal quality, and 3D impact...I want one !!

The Unconquerables

Sophie took some photos for her art project on our environment as a 'non climbing' ploy at Stanage. Without realising it she took a picture of the Gritstone classic 'The Right Unconquerable' which follows the very left hand crack.

You can just see the climber at bottom left. I've done this route with John Parker, Steve Riley and Mark in the past.
This is Sophie's pencil drawing of the same...very powerful I reckon Posted by Picasa
